Touch-and-go라는 표현은 used about a situation in which there is a serious risk that something bad could happen / 나쁜 일이 생길 수도 있는 심각한 위험이 존재하는 상황에서 사용하는 informal한 표현이랍니다.

즉, 제가 잡지에서 읽은 문장은 '레베카는 출산 후 내출혈로 상당히 위험한 상태였다' 라는 뜻이 되겠네요.
