be in the loop: 핵심 일원이 되다

 

제가 받은 이메일에서 발견한 표현입니다. I am keen to get back in the loop.

 

be in the loop이라고 하면, to be part of a group of people who make important decisions (중요한 결정을 내리는 그룹의 일원이 되다)라는 뜻이랍니다. 그러니까 메일 주신 분이 하신 말은 “다시 중요한 일원이 되기를 간절히 희망한다”라는 뜻이랍니다. 반대말은 be out of the loop이구요.

 

그럼 예문 나갑니다.

 

He wanted to be kept in the loop, bur was kicked out.

(그는 핵심 인물로 남아 있고 싶어했지만 쫓겨났다.)

I did not know that in advance as I was out of the loop.

(난 의사결정  그룹에 속해있지 않아서 아무것도 미리 알지 못했다.)
