미드 <Fraiser>에서 주운 표현입니다. Don’t split hairs.

 

가느다란 머리카락을 나누려면 되지도 않는 걸 가지고 얼마나 피곤하겠어요? to argue that there is a difference between two things, when the difference is really too small to be important (중요하지도 않은 문제를 두고서 논쟁을 벌이다.)라는 뜻이랍니다. 그러니까 “시시콜콜 따지지 좀 마.” 이런 뜻이겠네요.

 

I am interested in conceptual differences, not in splitting hairs.

(난 개념적 차이에 관심이 있는 거지, 사소한 걸 가지고 따지자는 게 아니에요.)
