on the dot: 정각에

 

영드 <Shameless>를 보다가 들린 표현입니다. See you at six on the dot.

 

on the dot은  exactly on time or at a particular time (정각에 혹은 어느 특정 시각에 정확히)라는 뜻이랍니다. 그러니까 “여섯 시 정각에 보자”라는 거지요.

 

The workshop will start at 9:30 on the dot.

(워크샵은 9시 반에 정확히 시작할 겁니다.)

She arrived at the airport on the dot.

(그녀는 공항에 칼같이 시간을 맞춰서 도착했다.)
