I just got cut off: 나 방금 통화가 끊겼어.

영드 <My Family>에서 주운 표현입니다. 딸 제니를 대학에 보내놓고 시시때때로 전화를 거는 수잔. 제니는 귀찮아서 전화를 끊는 건데, 수잔이 다시 걸어서 이러지요. I just got cut off.

 

cut off라고 하면 completely stop doing something or supplying something (하던 거나 공급이 완전히 끊기는 것)을 말한답니다. 그러니까 “아까 전화가 끊겨서 말이야.”라고 한 것이었군요.
