We’d  better take a rain check.

 

원래 rain check란 a ticket for an outdoor event, such as a sports game, that you can use again if it rains and the action stops (우천 시 경기가 중단되어 추후 볼 수 있는 교환권) 입니다.

 

그래서 Take a rain check (on sth)은
you will do something in the future but not now
(지금이 아니라 나중에 하는 것)을 의미하게 되었답니다.
